Built for the 2011 World Rowing Championship, the new rowing centre is a situated in an already popular park, now providing wider services for the exisitng interest from the comunity.
The project was awarded the Plecnik Medal this year for its 'outstanding creations in the fields of architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture and interior design, representing quality architectural realizations by Slovenian authors'. Impressive stuff.
The building recived the award for all the reasons any buidling should exist, unfortunatly not all buildings aspire to those simple rules.
Fortunatly this is a lovely example of why architects build things for the comunity.
