Oritenation Fail. Oritental Fail.

There's so much messed up about China that I can't possibly deal with even a fraction of it in a 500 word post but I saw this on the news feed, got excited, then immediately disappointed and just added it to my list of 'Things That Sum Up China'.

Here is  the winning competition proposal for the Research and Development Center for colourful Guizhou.

It started out well enough; sustainable, local vernacular - all my favourite words. And it looks really fun, all the different facing houses creating clever public space, undulating along the river side. I understandably thought this was like this because of the environment but it's just a pretty shape.

Then I realised it was like every other housing development with no soul or insight, just a few shiny renderings covered in hollow buzz words from a faceless property developer. Great going China, really showing the world you're foresight!

More fool me.
