I was recently reading that Taipei has high hopes of becoming the next World Design Capital (WDC) designated city in 2016. The guys that decide this sort of thing, the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) announced that the City of Taipei will be the only city to move on to the next phase in the process towards becoming the WDC 2016.
So I suppose that means it's in the bag? Directly after the judges committee spend a two-day onsite evaluation to more thoroughly understanding of the proposed programming (jolly)
Preparations for next years World Design Capital events are under way in the 2014 World Design Capital, Cape Town, South Africa.
You can watch the promo video above. Taipei is a very cool fun city and I should imagine that they will do a great job. This year long event is intended to be a platform for demonstrating the value of design with in the city to due all the expected things; empower, revitalise and form solid social, cultural and economic perspectives.
Awaiting the official 'okay' in September
EDIT: Yeah, the got it. Read all about the excitment here.
