Berlin Weekender.

Daniel Libeskind's Jewish Museum in Berlin is 15 years this year!

I think it still looks really fresh and innovative. I visited in 2006 and what struck me is that the whole building is so ridiculously considered, no photo can convey the presence of space and fantastic feeling of place with in the building.

The entrance is through the Baroque style Kollegienhaus Building, down a stairwell and down through a dramatic entrance void in to the underground beginning of three exhibitions. The first leads to a dead end in the form of the Holocaust Tower.  The second leads out of the building and into the Garden of Exile and Emigration, a reminder of those who were forced to leave Berlin. The third, traces a path leading to the Stair of Continuity, this being the path leading to the exhibition spaces of the museum, emphasizing the continuum of history. The building is a vast zigzag slashed and penetrated  by opening, void and connection bridges across the vast space.

I really enjoy this photography series by Laurian Ghinitoiu celebrating this bookmarker of German history.
