A fire station in a cave in Margreid, Italy!
Firemen do save lives and such so this building it pretty fitting to the whole overall style. This looks like a super hero cave!
The dark concreat facade is reminicent of chared wood against the pallet of natural rock, glass and dark coloured steel.
While the look of this building is ace, it's inside workings make it stand out from other pretty buildings.
Built in a small town, there was not much land to be spared from the surrounding farms for a new large building project. The idea of building in to the hill not only saved the town space but obviously saves the town money in running costs.
You know I'm in love with passive stratigies and this building uses the hill as a natural temperature regulator. The temperature ranges from -10 in winter to a balmy +14 in summer and while the glass fronted garages are equiped with a pellet biofuel heating system, they have never needed to use it. In your face, over design!
